Description Stunning Opalescent Rene Lalique Vitesse car mascot or otherwise known as the "Goddess of Speed" on original signed "Rene Lalique" black glass book end mount. Model Number: #1160

This wonderful Opalescent Vitesse car mascot by Rene Lalique was used on a luxurious Car such as Bentley / Rolls Royce it has a few minor nibbles to its base which can be be seen in the pics provided. These minor nibbles to the glass base are due to the removal of the lalique car mascot on and off the radiator mount when not in use, as this is one of the rarer opalescent models it was most probably taken on and off to be kept safe in the house and transferred to the book end mount giving more pleasure to the owner who greatly admired it whilst not being used on the prestigious car.

These wonderful Car Mascots were made to sit on car radiator mounts as luxury ornaments in the 1920's by famous glass maker René Jules Lalique, they were lit underneath by a bulb which would shine through the glass giving them a warm glow at night, the faster the car went the brighter the glow. Rene Lalique who started company using his own name still creates fine glassware today.

Etched on the base is: " R. Lalique, France "
The heavy glass stand has R. Lalique France etched into the side.
